Anyone still playing?
My club has its annual competition next weekend, so I'm hoping I can take some photos (and maybe a medal!) to post here soon.
Anyone else got any badminton photos you'd like to share here?
Here's a slideshow of my badminton pics on Flickr.

I was at an international exhibition game a few days ago and I've uploaded some photos to my Flickr account.

hello badminton maniacs!
Hi! I'm maxine from the philippines. I love badminton so much! My brother and I used to play it during our collage years. I was a varsity in our university. Bt during that time, it's not yet identified as it is right now. Before, they thought its just a game for girls and doesn't require too much energy and movements. But now, almost everybody's playing it. I am 33, married and with a son but still can play till my opponent drops out hehehe! I moved here in Riyadh, KSA but its not that racognized. Again i started missing the game. I only play everytime I go back to the Philippines for a 2 months vacation. Really I kick my butts off. I wish they could provide a site for courts so it could also be played here. Regards to all and MABUHAY (hurray!) to all the badminton addicts!

Hi everyone! I am really interested to meet more people that play badminton. I live in the U.S, and there is not many people around my area who play. I am really looking forward to learning new tips and hopefully making some friends. Hope to hear from some of you soon :)

Don't look back!
I thought I should share a lesson brought home vividly at the weekend: when you're at the front of the court and the bird has passed you, leave it for your partner and never look back. A friend forgot that rule - he turned just as his partner was swinging to take a shot; the collision between face and racket resulted in him losing a tooth! (No, I wasn't his partner)

p.s. Happy birthday badminton!

Is it racket or racquet?
What's your favourite make/model of racquet? I'm currently using a Yonex "Isometric 60 Light" but I find it a bit lacking in "oomph" when I smash.

hey!!! I'm so happy that there's a badminton community and there are so many people in it! although people haven't updated for a while, but oh well. I'm from Hong Kong, and i've been playing badminton since i was about 4. But unfortunately, it's not very popular in America, or at least where i live. it's really hard to find some place to play. my brothers and i just go outside to play, but this only works when it's no windy. and to actually go to a court and play is difficult because it's hard to find one. But i think my PE teacher is going to try to make a school team in my high school, which i think is tremendously cool. so many people think that it's a lame sport, and they are so wrong.

Badminton: New Doubles Rules?
I was just recently playing doubles with some friends, and there seems to be changes to the doubles serving rules, because my friends told me that they didn't play with second serves anymore, but just switched sides every time a team lost a serve. Is this true? Is this official?

Order me a wheelchair
I've got my first badminton competition today. Our first game is at 9am! I think we get to play "round robin" games until mid-day, and then (after re-seeding) the knockout games begin ... so we could be finished by 12:30 :)

Hopefully we'll get at least part way through the afternoon games, but I've got a feeling tomorrow and Monday are going to be painful!

Update: Here's my write-up.

Badminton art
Searching for a local badminton club, I stumbled across a web page dedicated to the world's largest badminton racket, which is in St. Albert, Alberta, apparently.

I remembered there's a museum with huge shuttlecocks outside, so I tracked down this page for The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, MO.

So has anyone seen either of these, or any other badminton-related art?

Hi! Wow, finally, a decent badminton community! A little about me: I've been playing for my local club for 4 years, this year will be my 5th, um... I'm the Warragul B Grade Girl's Champ, I've played in 2 state tournaments as well as a ton of district tournaments, my ex boyfriend (who dumped me right at season end) and I were an unbeatable mixed team, um... my racquet is a Prokennex Ti Carbon 500 and I would kill for a pair of Asics shoes (mine are just Nike running shoes)... Well, that's all from me for now, I just wanted to introduce myself!

Christmas Presents
So, I got a new racket and some new shoes for Christmas. They're both pretty sweet.
Hi-Tec Venom 111's--They fit really nice and have a lot of support for my horrible ankle.

HL L-Power 75--The coach at my mom's school said it's one of the lightest rackets made, and it seems to work really well for providing a lot of power.

How was everyone else's Christmas'? I hope as good as mine!

Open gyms at my school have began already, one a week right now, soon to be moved to two. I can't wait until the start of our season.

Happy birthday to us!
The badminton community is three years old today. Awwwww. :)

I'm also pleased to say that, after looking for a long time, I've finally found a local club and I'm playing again.
